Capital Gymnastics originally opened in October 2006 as Brooklyn Gymnastics & Cheer. The programs quickly outgrew the Brooklyn location and we moved to a larger space in Oregon. After 2 years in Oregon, Brooklyn Gymnastics became Capital Gymnastics and expanded again and settled into a location in Madison for three years. At the end of our lease coinciding with April's husband's job transfer to Arizona, Capital Gymnastics went into hiatus. While in Arizona, April continued coaching and training recreational and competitive gymnasts and dancers until her return to the Madison area.
Although never absent from teaching, it was obvious that gym ownership offers a complete gymnastics experience for her students, and thus the decision to re-open Capital Gymnastics was made.
April couldn't be more excited to be back living in Wisconsin, and re-establishing Capital Gymnastics in the community of Verona.

Coach April, Owner, Gym Director, Head Coach
April is very passionate about gymnastics, dance, cheer, fitness, teaching her students, and living a healthy lifestyle. She began gymnastics at the age of 3 and has never looked back since. Her experiences have taken her from Kentucky to Colorado to California to Arizona and Wisconsin. She has coached under Olympic coaches, taught gymnastics, tumbling, cheerleading and acrobatics in gyms and dance studios, and she has run her own programs for the last 12 years. April was a competitive gymnast until the age of 14, a cheerleader throughout high school, and she performed as a dancer and acrobat with the Northern Kentucky University Dance Troupe throughout college. She worked as an acrobat in a circus in Los Angeles, danced and sang in musicals in Cincinnati and Denver, and worked on music videos and commercials in Los Angeles and Phoenix. April ran a mobile gymnastics school in Phoenix where she was the varsity tumbling coach for 5 high school cheerleading squads, where the focus was on tumbling, strength and conditioning and jump perfection. In Wisconsin, she owned Capital Gymnastics Academy for 8 years until her husband’s job required a move back to Arizona. She has coached and trained gymnasts, dancers and cheerleaders ranging in ages 3-18, from preschool, developmental, and recreational level through compulsory and optional competitive levels, and has developed numerous state champions. For the last two years, April has worked with gymnasts and dancers offering both clinics, private and small group lessons.
April feels blessed to have had experiences that have given her so many amazing opportunities to travel, perform, compete, dance, teach and help students follow their dreams. April continues to develop knowledge and training methods to offer top quality instruction. Her love of gymnastics, cheer, dance and fitness continues to grow and she is very excited about sharing her experience and passion with her students.
April has a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a Dance minor from Northern Kentucky University. Safety and Continuing Education are priorities and mandatory for April and her staff. She continues to expand her knowledge by keeping current with courses and certifications offered by USA Gymnastics.
